Wishing a: happy birthday to Gloria Steinem! The feminist writer, activist, Women’s Media Center co-founder and Presidential Medal of Freedom recipient turns 80 today.

Checking out: some wonderful films this week! Beth B.’s provocative Exposed (co-produced by NYWIFT member Sandra Shulberg) goes to Cinema Village, and It Felt Like Love, the Nancy Malone Marketing & Promotion grant recipient, is playing at the IFC Center!

Nodded along to: Jennifer Lee’s remarks about women in film on CBS This Morning. Disney Animation’s first female director (whose film Frozen recently became the first woman-directed film to gross over $1 billion) sounds off about recent shifts in movie storytelling and women in creative leadership.

Terry Lawler is NYWIFT’s Executive Director. Tune in every Tuesday for her picks.
