Role Reversal: IndieWire looks into the ways that gender swapping characters in television can re-shape perspectives and gain parity for women on screen.

Designing Women: Get your tickets for NYWIFT’s Designing Women on Monday, May 21st, honoring the best and brightest of hair, makeup and costume designers. Honorees for this year are: costume designer Dana Covarrubias (Quantico, Claws, Master of None), hair stylist Anita Lausevic (The Deuce, Instinct, Royal Pains) and makeup artist Martha Melendez (Netflix’s She’s Gotta Have It, The Get Down, BlacKkKlansman). The Variety Ensemble Award will be presented to the hair, makeup and costume design team from Amazon’s Mozart in the Jungle. 

Immigrant Series: Our 4th Annual Women Filmmakers: Immigrant Stories series is going strong – check out the recent coverage in AM New York! The next screening will be Thursday, May 3rd at 6:30 PM at Neir’s Tavern. The theme is “Recipes from Home,” featuring four short films about traditional dishes. Register online for this free program, which is followed by a talkback and a reception.
