Terry’s Picks: Sandra Oh, Hannah Gadsby, Yvonne Russo

Sandra Oh: Congratulations to Sandra Oh, who became the first woman of Asian descent nominated for a lead actress in a drama series Emmy last week with her nomination for her stellar work in BBC America’s Killing Eve.

Hannah Gadsby: If you haven’t watch Hannah Gadsby’s Nanette on Netflix yet, do it. It’s deserving of the hype. It morphs from a traditional stand-up special into a deconstruction of the form itself, with hard-hitting takes on sexual and gender identity, Western art as seen through the white male gaze, homophobia, assault, harassment, and why she’s quitting comedy – all amidst the laughs.

Yvonne Russo: I’m so happy to welcome producer Yvonne Russo as one of the new members of the NYWIFT Board of Directors. In case you missed it, be sure to check out her interview with the NYWIFT blog from earlier this month.
